Lack of access to clean drinking water is a challenge faced by people in many rural and tribal areas. This leads to many related issues like the high incidence of waterborne diseases, poor general health and an unhealthy diet. The impact of waterborne disease is felt most acutely by children, leading to high infant and child mortality.
Approach:
This community development project, conducted along with Humana People to People India (HPPI), focuses on restoration of water resources in 102 villages of Karahal Block, along with repair and maintenance of hand pump platforms. The initiative will improve the lives of people who have limited awareness about safe water and hygiene. The issue of safe water becomes even more important in these regions due to poor access to healthcare or a healthy diet.
